Two suppers

BIG IDEA
There is a supper of celebration, the marriage supper of the Lamb, and a supper of judgment, the great supper of God.

Let God take care of times you feel unjustly treated. Rest today in the confidence that there will be judgment in the world.

 

Revelation 20
SUMMARY
Torment

BIG IDEA
Satan is thrown into the lake of burning sulfur where he will be forever tormented. But there is also the white thrown judgment where those whose name is not found in the book of life will be thrown into the lake of fire.

NEXT STEP
Pray for family and friends to know Jesus. Share your faith prayerfully, faithfully, and frequently.

 

Revelation 21
SUMMARY
No tears

BIG IDEA
A new heaven and a new earth appear because God will make all things new (verse 5). “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp” (verse 23).

Jesus is preparing a place for you that will be indescribable.

 

Revelation 22
SUMMARY
Amen

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life” (verse 17).

Revelation 16

Refusal

BIG IDEA
The seven bowls of God’s wrath are poured out and the people refuse to repent.

Revelation 17
SUMMARY
Drunken reality

BIG IDEA
The beast represents Babylon and other world powers that went its own way. They clung to evil instead of following god. Its beauty ends and the beast winds up in a drunken stupor.

NEXT STEP
Don’t be tempted by the apparent (or short-lived) blessing of sin. It is costly and its end is ugly.

 

Revelation 18
SUMMARY
Escape

BIG IDEA
A final cry to escape the clutches of Babylon and its judgment. Babylon will be defeated so don’t invest your life in her.

Fight the greed and corruption and pride that will surface today. Defeat it by clinging to God and his ways.

Two witnesses

BIG IDEA
God has two witnesses prophesy to the gentiles for 3.5 years. They are killed and their deaths are mocked. But then they are resurrected to life.

NEXT STEP
Don’t miss out on opportunities to be part of God’s plan. Regardless of the consequences, God is in control.

 

Revelation 12
SUMMARY
Defeated

BIG IDEA
“For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (verses 10, 11).

NEXT STEP
Live as a victor today. Your enemy has been defeated so don’t succumb to the lies he whispers in your ears.

 

Revelation 13
SUMMARY
Endure

BIG IDEA
A beasts of the earth will command worship and will wage war against God’s people. It will also control the world’s wealth and distribute it only to those who worship it. “This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people” (verse 10).

NEXT STEP
Be faithful until the end.

 

Revelation 14
SUMMARY
Life goal

BIG IDEA
God is the ultimate victor, so it would be wise to live according to these words from an angel: “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water” (verse 7).

Sealed

BIG IDEA
God sets aside and protects his family. 144,000 are sealed and protected during the tribulation. Many martyred during the tribulation are shown in heaven worshipping God.

Even if you go through painful times, trust and praise God because the pain is not removed from God’s will or protection.

 

Revelation 8
SUMMARY
Calm

BIG IDEA
There is a calm in heaven before the storm of destruction. The angels sound their trumpets and judgment begins.

Continue to pray for God’s will to be done.

 

Revelation 9
SUMMARY
Too proud

BIG IDEA
Locusts that looked like horses were released to torment those without God’s seal. Despite the horrors and plagues inflicted upon those without the seal, many still did not repent.

How long?

BIG IDEA
We often ask how long until God brings judgment on the earth. We discover in this chapter that there will be no more delay.
